AI Growth Kit vs Kapwing
If you need a real video editor — a timeline, templates, cutting by deleting transcript words — or you subtitle and dub more than a few minutes a month, pay for Kapwing: Pro ($16 a month billed yearly, $24 month-to-month) bundles up to 1,000 minutes of auto-subtitles and 50 minutes of AI dubbing a month, which beats our per-second credits past roughly 5 minutes of either. For one very short job, Kapwing's own Free plan costs nothing (watermarked, 720p, a 4-minute export cap) and is cheaper than our cheapest pack; for a translated-audio job with no plan at all, AI Growth Kit is the simpler buy, since Kapwing doesn't include AI dubbing on Free.

Where Kapwing is clearly better
Kapwing is a full browser video editor; AI Growth Kit is a set of single-purpose AI tools that each return one finished file. If you trim clips, work from templates, cut a video by deleting words from its transcript, or collaborate with a team in a shared workspace, Kapwing does that and we don't.
Its bundled AI minutes also undercut our per-second credits past a low volume: Pro ($16 a month billed yearly, $24 month-to-month) includes up to 1,000 minutes of auto-subtitles and 50 minutes of AI dubbing a month, both flat monthly caps rather than metered usage. Past roughly 5 minutes of either in a month, that beats our packs — see the volumes below. Kapwing's subtitle translator also reaches 100+ languages to our 20, and subtitles export as SRT, VTT or TXT files; ours only burns them into the MP4 today.
Where AI Growth Kit is better
Every tool has one published price per second, shown before you submit the job: 2 credits for translate or subtitle, 3 for upscale, 10 for video generation, 12 for edit. Kapwing's AI video generation and upscaling draw from the same monthly credit pool as everything else, but neither its pricing page nor its tool pages state the per-action cost — you find out by spending credits.
A translated-audio job doesn't need any plan at all: a $9 pack covers more than a minute of dubbed audio, one time, and pack credits never expire. Kapwing's Free plan doesn't include AI dubbing at all; its own help pages say extended minutes need a Pro account, $16 a month at the cheapest.
No subscription to size or cancel: a $9–$59 pack is a one-time purchase, and failed jobs are refunded. Kapwing's monthly credits and subtitle or dubbing minute caps reset every month whether or not you used them.
What it costs at three monthly volumes
Our rates as of October 2026: translate and subtitle cost 2 credits per second (120 a minute), upscaling 3 (180 a minute). A minute therefore costs $5.40 in $9 packs (200 credits), $3.93 in the $59 Power Pack (1,800 credits) and $2.94 on a fully used $49 Pro plan (2,000 credits). Pack credits never expire, so pack costs below are monthly averages. Kapwing prices are USD per seat, as shown on kapwing.com/pricing in October 2026.
A single 3-minute video, subtitled once: 3 × 120 = 360 credits, $16.20 at the Starter pack rate ($9 for 200 credits). Kapwing's Free plan covers the same job for $0 — its 10-minute monthly auto-subtitle allowance and 4-minute export cap both clear a 3-minute video — with a watermark and a 720p cap as the only cost.
20 minutes of auto-subtitles every month: 20 × 120 = 2,400 credits. The $49 Pro plan covers 2,000 and a $9 pack covers the remaining 400, so $67 a month (about $62 if the extra comes from a Power Pack). Kapwing Pro stays flat at $24 a month, or $16 billed yearly — 20 minutes sits well inside its 1,000-minute cap. The break-even against our best pack rate ($3.93 a minute) is roughly 6 minutes a month at Kapwing's monthly price and 4 at its yearly price.
10 minutes of translated audio every month, one language: 10 × 60 × 2 = 1,200 credits, $49 on the Pro plan or $39.33 in Power Packs (1,200 ÷ 1,800 × $59). Kapwing has no AI dubbing at all on Free; Pro covers it for the same $16–$24 a month, well inside its 50-minute dubbing cap — the same break-even as subtitles, since both cost 2 credits a second on our side.
How to decide
Start from whether you need an editor, how many minutes you process a month, and whether a watermark is acceptable for something small.
- A real timeline editor, templates, SRT files, or a shared team workspace: Kapwing.
- More than about 5–6 minutes of subtitles or dubbing a month: Kapwing Pro's flat price wins.
- One very short job where a watermark and 720p are fine: Kapwing Free costs nothing.
- A translated-audio job with no plan at all, a sharper 4K file, or an AI video clip at one published per-second price: AI Growth Kit.
Choose Kapwing if…
- You need a real video editor: trimming, templates, a multi-track timeline, cutting by deleting transcript words.
- You subtitle or dub more than about 5–6 minutes a month: Pro's flat $16–$24 covers up to 1,000 minutes of subtitles and 50 of dubbing.
- You need subtitle files (SRT, VTT or TXT), not just a burned-in video.
- You want subtitle language reach beyond our 20: Kapwing's translator lists 100+.
- A single short clip where a watermark and 720p are fine: Free costs nothing.
- Your team needs seats, permissions and a shared workspace.
Choose AI Growth Kit if…
- You want one published per-second price for every tool, visible before you submit, instead of an unpublished per-action credit cost.
- You need a translated-audio job and don't want any subscription: Kapwing's Free plan doesn't include dubbing at all.
- You want 4K upscaling or an AI-generated clip from Seedance 2.0, Kling 3.0 or Veo 3.1 priced the same simple way as everything else.
- You process a few minutes a year: pack credits never expire and failed jobs are refunded.
Questions
Does Kapwing's free plan include AI dubbing?
No. Free covers auto-subtitles (up to 10 minutes a month) and text-to-speech (up to 1 minute), but AI dubbing starts on the Pro plan — $16 a month billed yearly, $24 month-to-month — which includes up to 50 minutes a month.
Can I use both?
Yes. Edit, template and caption the video in Kapwing, then run the finished MP4 through our Translator for a language this month's Kapwing plan doesn't cover, or through our Upscaler for a 4K file without needing Kapwing's Pro or Business tier.
