AI Growth Kit vs HitPaw VikPea

If you already own a Windows PC or Mac that meets its recommended specs and plan to upscale routinely, HitPaw VikPea is the cheaper choice past a low volume: a license (from $43.19 a month on Windows) renders locally with no per-video charge once you're subscribed, and it outputs up to 8K against our 4K ceiling. AI Growth Kit is the simpler choice for an occasional file: no app to install, no GPU needed, and the free sign-up credits produce one real exported clip — HitPaw's free trial only previews results and can't export anything until you pay.

Where HitPaw VikPea is clearly better

Once you own a license, local rendering has no per-video or per-minute charge — the more you upscale, the cheaper each clip gets, down to $0 beyond the license itself. Output also reaches 8K against our 4K ceiling, and VikPea does more than resize: denoise, low-light enhancement, colorization, anime/animation upscaling and SDR-to-HDR conversion, all in the same app. We offer one operation, resolution upscaling to 4K, and nothing else.

Standard processing never leaves your machine, which can matter more than price for footage under NDA, and its product pages list batch processing for running a folder of clips at once — something our one-file-per-job Upscaler doesn't do.

Where AI Growth Kit is better

No GPU, no install, no OS requirement: our Upscaler runs in any browser. HitPaw needs a Windows PC or Mac that meets its minimums, and its own FAQ says the free trial can preview every model but can't export a file at all — not even a watermarked one. Our 20 free sign-up credits produce one real 6-second 4K upscale with nothing to install.

A single short job costs a fraction of HitPaw's cheapest plan: one 30-second clip comes to $9 in credits, one time, no commitment. HitPaw sells no per-job purchase, so the same single clip costs a full month of its license even if canceled right after — $43.19 on Windows, $70.39 on Mac.

The same balance also pays for translation, subtitles, image and video generation, extend and edit. HitPaw's other apps — video conversion, screen recording, photo editing — are separate licenses, not bundled with VikPea.

What it costs for one clip, 10 and 50 clips a month

Our rate is 3 credits per second (180 a minute) for every job. HitPaw's prices change with frequent limited-time discounts; these are what hitpaw.com showed in October 2026 — $43.19 a month, $99.99 a year or $350.39 once on Windows (Mac costs more: $70.39, $110.39 and $350.39), with local exports included at no extra per-video charge once you're licensed.

A single 30-second clip, upscaled once: 30 × 3 = 90 credits, so one $9 Starter Pack (200 credits) covers it for $9, one time, with 110 credits left over. HitPaw has no pay-once option and its trial can't export, so the same single clip costs a full month of its Monthly plan even if canceled right after: $43.19 (Windows) or $70.39 (Mac).

Ten 30-second clips a month: 10 × 90 = 900 credits. The $19 plan covers 600 and a Power-Pack-rate top-up covers the remaining 300 (300 ÷ 1,800 × $59 ≈ $9.83), about $28.83 a month in total — still cheaper than HitPaw's $43.19 Monthly plan at this volume. HitPaw's Yearly plan, committed to a full year, already undercuts both at $99.99 ÷ 12 ≈ $8.33 a month.

Fifty 30-second clips a month: 50 × 90 = 4,500 credits. The $49 Pro plan covers 2,000 and a Power-Pack-rate top-up covers the remaining 2,500 (2,500 ÷ 1,800 × $59 ≈ $81.94), about $130.94 a month — well past HitPaw's flat $43.19 Monthly plan (or $8.33 a month on Yearly) for the same 50 clips. Somewhere around 14-15 clips a month is the rough breakeven against the Monthly plan; past that, owning a HitPaw license wins by a widening margin.

How to decide

Start from whether you already have a Windows PC or Mac that meets HitPaw's recommended specs, and how many clips you upscale in a typical month.

Choose HitPaw VikPea if…

  • You already own a Windows PC or Mac that meets its recommended specs and upscale often enough that a flat license beats metered credits — roughly 15 clips a month and up.
  • You need output above 4K, up to HitPaw's 8K ceiling.
  • You want more than resizing: denoise, low-light enhancement, colorization or anime-style upscaling in the same app.
  • The footage can't leave your machine at all: local processing never uploads anything by default.
  • You process many files at once: batch processing is listed on its product pages; we take one file per job.

Choose AI Growth Kit if…

  • You don't own a capable Windows PC or Mac, or don't want to install anything — a browser tab and an upload are the whole setup.
  • You want a real free export before paying: our 20 sign-up credits produce an actual 6-second upscale, while HitPaw's trial only previews.
  • The job is small or occasional: a $9 pack is a one-time purchase, cheaper than committing to a full month of HitPaw's license.
  • You also want to translate, subtitle or generate video from the same account and credit balance.

Questions

Does HitPaw VikPea's free trial let me export anything?

No. Per HitPaw's own support FAQ, the free trial previews every enhancement model with no time limit, but exporting a usable file needs an active Monthly, Yearly or Lifetime license.

Why does HitPaw VikPea cost more on Mac than Windows?

That's what its own purchase pages showed in October 2026: $70.39 a month and $110.39 a year on Mac against $43.19 and $99.99 on Windows. The one-time Lifetime license is the same $350.39 on either.

Can I use both?

Yes. If you already own capable hardware and upscale routinely, or need output above 4K or extra enhancement models, a HitPaw license is the better home for that work. Use our Upscaler for an occasional file with nothing to install, or when you also want to translate or subtitle the same video.
